Linksys E-4200 Dual Band Gigabit Router

Linksys E-4200 N750 Wireless N dual band simultaneous gigabit router is the new router set up in January 2011 – the first router from Linksys has introduced the N750 technology.

Linksys E-4200 N750 is powered by the latest 802.11n wireless technology with simultaneous dual band, and is compatible with 802.11b / g legacy clients. If you still have old computers with 802.11b or g Wi-Fi, they are still compatible with the router, but with a maximum speed of the client can connect.

High Speed

The main difference between the old Linksys E-3000 E-4200 and Linksys is the specified speed. The maximum speed of the E-3000 is 300Mbps theoretical or 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz, which is commonly known as the N600 router. While Linksys E-4200 speed is 300 Mbps for 2.4 GHz band and 450Mbps on the 5 GHz band – is commonly known as the N750 router.

The router includes a full array of 3×3 MIMO antennas for maximum range and reliability. With high speeds of up to 450Mbps (for 5 GHz) and the long distance range and coverage, with the addition of QoS to the router allows wireless environment for maximum performance for high speed and smooth HD media streaming and fast response gaming experiences. QoS (Quality of Service)-technology is the ability of the router to enable traffic prioritization for games and streaming over other data traffic.

Netgear also introduced the N750 Router WNDR4000 is almost the same specifications as the Linksys router E-4200. Both routers have WAN Gigabit (1 port), Gigabit LAN (4 ports), Ethernet interfaces. With the Gigabit LAN interface, you can connect a computer with Gigabit network adapter, using a Cat5e cable for high-speed wired connection.

As the WNDR4000 Netgear, Linksys E-4200 includes a Gigabit WAN port. For home users subscribed to cable Internet service, you can connect high-speed cable modem Surfboard DOCSIS 3.0 SB6120 which include a Gigabit Ethernet port to optimize data throughput.

USB port

Linksys E-4200 includes a built-in USB port with UPnP Media Server to share an external memory with users on the local network or secure access via the Internet using the VPN connection. With the built-in UPnP AV media server, streaming media files to other HD media devices, including Xbox, PS3, Blu-Ray player and TV.

Unfortunately you can not use this USB port to accommodate a USB printer for sharing. To share the printer on the network, you need to purchase a wireless print server or you can use your computer and configure the traditional printing.

Compared with Netgear WNDR3800 Premium, the router supports the USB port that can be used to accommodate an external storage or USB printers for sharing. But WNDR3800 provides a maximum speed of up to300Mbps technology (N600). If you need the environment that supports both storage and printer sharing, you might consider Belkin HD N600, which contains two USB ports for printer and storage.

Advanced Security

Like other new 802.11n wireless router with support, the router supports the latest wireless encryption security: WPA/WPA2 (Wi-Fi Protected Access), the best wireless security than WEP (older devices using 802.11b / g). Cisco E-Series supports RADIUS and the network of your company supports the RADIUS server for authentication and authorization. You can enable the router to RADIUS server for integration with RADIUS for centralized authentication.

Not many routers support customer access. customer access can be activated to give visitors access to the Internet without accessing the network. You can enable access by customers to allow up to 5 people to access the Internet without compromising your network.

You should have security features including NAT and SPI are also included to protect the network against potential threats. DHCP is also used to specify the IP address automatically to all computers on the network.

If you need maximum speed for the environment for wireless broadband applications-intensive, like the regular game and HD media streaming, Linksys E-4200 is your choice.
